With Shopify, we've been able to create 3 customized web sites; NaykedApparel.com, NaykedPromos.com and NaykedWholesale.com that target three different demographic groups with unique buying habits. Shopify has enabled us to quickly and without a lot of coding experience, create unique shopping experiences that have resulted in increased sales for all 3 sites.
They’ve done the same to me. I sell beauty products, you know, cleansers, moisturizers, masks… They call them “pseudopharmaceuticals”. I have very popular and reputable lines, so this is hogwash. I now have to pay !5 of my sales, plus deal with third parties for credit card processing. Shopify never mentioned this up front, happy to take my money. Only found out after my site was built, which I spent money to build. Not happy. if you’re selling beauty products, this is a problem. I’m looking for options…
There is much more for me to learn on Shopify, and I am not looking at the best apps to use to help increase my business, such as abandoned cart recovery, reviews, etc. Anyhow, I have sold about $2500 in products on Shopify since February, and my Etsy store is going strong with many more sales. However, considering that I have to attract traffic to my Shopify site on my own, I am thrilled. Customer service and help at Shopify is excellent. They have lots of educational tools, plus their blog is a wealth of information for ecommerce stores.
Thanks for the comment. We’ve found Shopify to be pretty transparent when it comes to credit card processing fees (something you have to pay everywhere) and transaction fees. I am thinking about listing older sportcards online and fazing out of ebay. I have been comparing a product like Shopify with CS Cart which would be a one time fee. 1GB storage is not much when you consider front/back scan of card is about 1MB…even the 5MB plan is not much. Is the type of business I am looking at better off with something like CS Cart?? My site does not need to be pretty….just quickly searchable with good scans.
I started off using Square when it first came out. But I wanted something more robust that would help me with ecommerce and POS as I grew my ecommerce platform. Shopify makes everything seamless and has a number of apps that help me do other things like marketing. It's not as inexpensive as Square for POS, but it also is way more powerful. The customer service has also been great. I hate calling for customer service, so I use their Chat feature and always get an answer to my questions or issues.

I think the thing about Shopify is that they allow you to integrate your offline and online systems, instead of having them separated and trying to reconcile your business data. Think of it as backend integration and support. If you change your backend data, such as pricing, inventory levels, etc, everything is sync’d up allow you more time to grow your business. As its name indicates, gig pricing on Fiverr starts at $5 USD, though depending on what you’re selling, that can go up to hundreds, even thousands of dollars.
Shopify can enable your users to buy your products directly through Facebook thanks to the two platforms’ integration. You can also enable and manage user accounts on your Shopify store. However, I’m not so sure you can combine the two, unless their is a specific app that can be approved through Facebook and allow this data and information to be collected and stored, almost like a remote Shopify account. YoKart has a couple of downsides, though. Given the robust structure, customizing YoKart will require a developer with extensive knowledge of PHP. Also, it's not open source like Magento. The Startup and GoQuick Packages offer default themes. And, unlike Magento, YoKart is primarily focused on SMB, which means the needed features are already available in standard packages; for large scale enterprises, customization would be a must do.
Overall, you have the ability to either speak to a professional or learn about the system yourself. Obviously, some people hate waiting on the phone for a support rep, so we feel like the forums, courses, and videos are enough for you to figure out your own problems if you'd like. So, the support team has something for everyone (they're super knowledgable about fashion or jewellery stores), and in my experience, they're pretty darn responsive.
