For a simple eCommerce website for a small business I’m torn between whether to use Shopify or GoDaddy’s Quick Shopping Cart. I’ve played around in the trial feature Shopify offers and so far, it seems fine. However, it’s a bit expensive especially when starting out. GoDaddy’s Quick Shopping Cart (Deluxe Plan) is $14.99 whilst Shopify’s Basic Plan is $29 (and then there’s the 2% transaction charge on top of that), so GD is actually much cheaper (unless I’m missing something). But I’ve heard mixed things about both services from all the comments and reviews I’ve read.

I didn’t like how Woocommerce works and how indirect the fees can be, and unlike Shopify who had a very straightforward fee. But my business is not MAINLY about the products, it’s more of the community and the content which WordPress can properly handle better — in my opinion. The one thing I like about Shopify is the hosting, it’s faster than most WordPress sites (who usually have shared-hosting).

We switched twice in three years- first from Netsuite to Magento, both of which were very complex to build our site on, and then to Shopify, which has proven to be a great decision. We were able to save thousands of dollars a year in developer fees and even I (the owner) have been able to easily create pages and content for our site with little technical knowledge.
However, if you use a lower Shopify plan, there are transaction fees associated with each sale (in addition to payment processing fee, such as those charged by PayPal). The only way to completely remove, or lower the transaction fees is to either move to a higher plan, or use Shopify Payments (which is essentially powered by Stripe, which I don’t think is available in China yet). So this fee can reduce your margins a little bit. Most people are okay with it as it won’t make or break your business, but definitely something to keep in mind.
My wife and I have a online shoe business. We currently use Product Cart and are looking to switch to a more functionally rich and user friendly platform. I think we’ve narrowed it down to BC or Shopify. I have read your comparisons and understand the differences and similarities of each. What wasn’t really touched upon was integration with accounting software and 3PL (fulfillment) software platforms.

The Basic Shopify plan at $29 per month is more than adequate for most beginning online retailers.

Once you've found the right theme, you can easily customize the look and feel to your heart's desire, simply by opening the template editor and editing your theme until you feel like it’s exactly what you are looking for. On the other hand, the new Shopify Sections feature is sure to speed up your editing, since it's a rather simple drag and drop editor.

Shopify allows us to focus on our core business and not only shows off our Poseidon Surf brand visually but allows us to sell a multitude of products with ease. Another benefit is that many of our staff and new staff is familiar with Shopify which makes product updates even easier.

Hey there-I am looking to develop a website to advertise for a counseling office private practice but also would like to eventually expand the business to be able to advertise for paid workshops, a blog tied to the business, as well as potential to sell products related to workshops, self-care, relationship-building, psycho-education , life management, and promoting the use of personal and global affirmations in various formats/products. Which drag and drop website builder would work best for a start-up like mine? I started off using Square when it first came out. But I wanted something more robust that would help me with ecommerce and POS as I grew my ecommerce platform. Shopify makes everything seamless and has a number of apps that help me do other things like marketing. It's not as inexpensive as Square for POS, but it also is way more powerful. The customer service has also been great. I hate calling for customer service, so I use their Chat feature and always get an answer to my questions or issues.
