Even with all the advantages of Shopify mentioned above, there are some downsides with the platform. The most prominent downside is the additional transaction fee you'll be liable to pay if you don't use Shopify Payment. Moreover, plenty of useful and practical extensions require additional investment. Perhaps most challenging is "Liquid," Shopify's own coding language, which requires ecommerce store owners to pay an incremental price for customization.
Ecommerce can be a very rewarding venture, but you cannot make money overnight. That was a great review. There are definitely some beautifully made themes in Shopify’s theme store with styles for everyone. We ended up purchasing the Retina Theme which gave us the building blocks and tools to create a great first website. With a bit of additional help from online html and css editing tutorials like http://www.codecademy.com/ we were able to get our shop to the level we wanted.

But it really depends on what your current situation is. If you’re finding that the Wix tools are sufficient, then just leave it as is. But if you find that you are growing and need more sophisticated tools from Shopify, it’s worth while to consider migrating over to Shopify. It will be a bit of work to do the migration (pretty much rebuilding your site), but it might be worthwhile over the long term.

However, I cannot find a way to create a separate section- think ‘members only’- with products and/or pricing that is not viewable by the general public.
