I didn’t like how Woocommerce works and how indirect the fees can be, and unlike Shopify who had a very straightforward fee. Somewhere on the page it is explained that no credit card number is needed, but after I began to build a shop, I had to select a plan and enter the credit card number in order to have access to some functions. I did not like the fact that I have to close the shop before March 9th in order to avoid receiving the invoice for March. In these senses, CPG investors are being forced to adapt e-commerce as it is effective as a well as a means for them to thrive.

YoKart has a couple of downsides, though. Given the robust structure, customizing YoKart will require a developer with extensive knowledge of PHP. Also, it's not open source like Magento. The Startup and GoQuick Packages offer default themes. And, unlike Magento, YoKart is primarily focused on SMB, which means the needed features are already available in standard packages; for large scale enterprises, customization would be a must do.
I think Shopify will work just fine, especially if you have a goal of ramping up the number of products eventually. Start with their lower plan and work your way up as your business grows. It’s probably best to invest in one ecommerce builder from the start, rather than switching from one to another later as that will take a lot of time and energy to set things up all over again.

Hi Jeremy, Great review about Shopify. I am starting an ecomm site to sell costume jewelry. I currently have a wholesale business selling to most US department stores. While this is a high volume business at the wholesale level, I’m not really sure what to expect volume wise with an ecomm site selling directly to the consumer. When you sign up for an account with Shopify, the system will ask you to name your store and it will then assign you a site address. Choose a store named “WeSellStuff,” for example, and your site address will be “wesellstuff.myshopify.com.” While you’re always welcome to keep this site address as the home of your store on the ‘net, you’re more than likely going to want to change it to something more catchy, easy to remember, and not focused on Shopify.

To set up your products, click the “products” text link in the left-side menu. Then click “Add product.” This will take you to a page where you can enter your product title, images, variants (like sizes and colors), shipping weight and other details.
