WooCommerce should be your preferred choice if you’re not afraid of terms like FTP, MySQL and plugin updates as you’ll have to install it on your own WordPress site. The main reason to choose it over Shopify, from our point of view, is if you need a multilingual website and you need a lot of flexibility. In this article, we’ve compared both Shopify and WooCommerce.

Do you have any insight or experiences with those two aspects? Our goal is to have as little daily involvement with sales and fulfillment as possible. We want to focus our energy on Customer service, marketing and product development. I think the thing about Shopify is that they allow you to integrate your offline and online systems, instead of having them separated and trying to reconcile your business data. Think of it as backend integration and support. If you change your backend data, such as pricing, inventory levels, etc, everything is sync’d up allow you more time to grow your business. I have to say that whilst the system is easy to set up, I find it a bit limited. It’s true that you can customize your email, but you can only send the email 1, 6, 10 or 24 hours after. I wish there was an option to set rules to trigger (or not) the follow-up email (e.g. minimum order amount). What happens if you don’t know their email address? Other options like popups or banners would be nice to have.
Shopify is ok, but the lack of basic features they have deliberately not provided, forcing shop owners to purchase apps, is a bit underhanded and costly. For example, want to give a customer a volume discount… that’s $19.99 p/month…want to integrate your store with your courier… that’s a $279 p/m upgrade.. I would not recommend it to someone starting out, as the monthly costs to get a reasonable eComm store just isn’t worth it.

With access to such a wealth of customer data and an opportunity to keep an eye on customer buying habits as well as the emerging industry trends, eCommerce businesses can stay agile and shape their marketing efforts to provide a better-tailored experience and find more new customers. Just consider for a moment that you have a chance to address thousands of your customers by their first name; that is something already.

They’ve done the same to me. I sell beauty products, you know, cleansers, moisturizers, masks… They call them “pseudopharmaceuticals”. I have very popular and reputable lines, so this is hogwash. I have tested quite a few ecommerce platforms in the past, and I must admit, Shopify has the most thought-out feature set I have ever encountered. Almost everything you need to run your own online store is taken care of by a distinct feature. It doesn’t matter if you are planning to run your store fully online or from a brick and mortar setting, there is something for everyone.
A SWOT analysis can help you assess the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of your company's current environment. What does the market look like? Where does your business excel, and where does it falter? Review your entire business, not just segments of it. Evaluate external opportunities, because this is the often the primary place to invest time and money. Be honest with yourself when analyzing weaknesses and threats, or else the analysis will not be helpful.
I think Shopify and the custom mobile App that you want to create will be separate. So you will have your App developed yourself or with the help of a programmer. Then what you can do is promote the App through your Shopify online store to encourage people to use the App. Or, you can promote it within iTunes or other platforms though I’m not entirely sure how to do that.
