By 2016, eMarketer expected retail e-commerce sales in Brazil to reach $17.3 billion.[49] India has an Internet user base of about 460 million as of December 2017.[50] Despite being third largest user base in world, the penetration of Internet is low compared to markets like the United States, United Kingdom or France but is growing at a much faster rate, adding around 6 million new entrants every month.[citation needed] In India, cash on delivery is the most preferred payment method, accumulating 75% of the e-retail activities.[51][citation needed] The India retail market is expected to rise from 2.5% in 2016 to 5% in 2020.[52]
On October 3, 2016, Shopify acquired Boltmade.[33] In November 2016, Shopify partnered with Paystack which allowed Nigerian online retailers to accept payments from customers around the world.[34] On November 22, 2016, Shopify launched Frenzy, a mobile app that improves flash sales.[35] On December 5, 2016, Shopify acquired Toronto-based mobile product development studio Tiny Hearts. The Tiny Hearts building has been turned into a Shopify research and development office.[36]
The ecommerce industry will continue growing. According to N Channel, in the US, brick and mortar retailers generate $3.9 trillion in sales while ecommerce generates $294 billion. Over time, ecommerce will continue to take away market share from brick and mortar retailers as it has been doing over the past few years. This is good news for those looking to start online stores as sales will only continue to go up, though competition will also increase in the space.

Shopify – A popular choice among many SMBs, Shopify has features that let you sell online, on social media, and in-person. It lets merchants build and customize their ecommerce site through easy-to-use interfaces and templates. And it has features such as inventory management, reporting, buy buttons and more. It also has social selling functionalities for those who are active on sites like Facebook and Pinterest. 


As we talked about above, CSS and HTML modules are given for you to make more advanced customizations to the themes you buy. In my experience, the free themes aren't as easy to customize, and Shopify probably does this to get you to purchase premium options. The theme selection includes categories like clothing, electronics, food, toys and much more. I've had my eye on Shopify for quite some time now, and the company seems to share new themes on a consistent basis, and the designs are looking more and more modern.

Installing WooCommerce is free, but integrating the shopping cart completely with the system requires additional investment. Moreover, if you don't know WordPress, you won't know how to use WooCommerce. But the biggest problem with WooCommerce is its lack of scalability; as your business grows and you get more sellers, products and customers on your database, WooCommerce starts slowing down.
Shopify is easy to use, intuitive and scalable as my business has grown! The base themes are a solid foundation that can be personalized and the premium ones are top notch. As the community of stores has grown the number of developers building apps has increased exponentially which has allowed me to add on functionality I would have had to get built from scratch.

I am only going to start out with less than 5 colors of the same product. But it will be a personalized product. Will Shopify be able to set up that for me. For customers to upload a photograph? They’ve done the same to me. I sell beauty products, you know, cleansers, moisturizers, masks… They call them “pseudopharmaceuticals”. I have very popular and reputable lines, so this is hogwash. Overall, you have the ability to either speak to a professional or learn about the system yourself. Obviously, some people hate waiting on the phone for a support rep, so we feel like the forums, courses, and videos are enough for you to figure out your own problems if you'd like. So, the support team has something for everyone (they're super knowledgable about fashion or jewellery stores), and in my experience, they're pretty darn responsive.

I have been fairly happy with Shopify. The price is reasonable. The support has been excellent (and my Canadian speaking skills continue to improve). My biggest problem has been trying to improve my SEO. Anything Shopify can do to help me with that would be much appreciated. The Kit app has been somewhat helpful, but I get lost in the setup on my end on some of the Kit options/suggestions. My geek skills are on the low end.
